Guest Experience Curator

Knoxville, TN
Part Time
Mid Level

Knollwood is a 170-year-old historic home sitting atop Knoxville’s Bearden Hill.  Its owners recently completed a renovation and are now making this community gem available to private groups for small to medium sized events.  Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, the property will now host a wide range of gatherings — from intimate small group studies, to professional board meetings, to community events.  This role will be responsible for serving as the face of the property, ensuring every guest and organizer experiences world-class hospitality and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a gracious on-site host — greeting guests, orienting them to the space, and staying attentive to their needs.
  • Lead the planning and day-of execution of events, including setup and breakdown of furniture and event essentials.
  • Maintain the property's ambiance, cleanliness, and historic character to a consistently high standard, flagging maintenance or vendor needs as they arise.
  • Manage the full booking process — inquiries, scheduling, agreements, and fees — using organized systems to prevent conflicts or dropped details.
  • Communicate warmly and professionally with organizers before and after events, exercising discretion and sound judgment.
  • Build and oversee a small part-time staff to help cover evening and weekend events as needed — this role does not require person attendance at every event.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years in a customer-facing role, ideally in high-end event management, hospitality, retail, restaurant, or sales.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple bookings and details independently, with strong communication skills and sound judgment.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable working with a wide variety of apps, remote access/entry systems, and AV equipment.
  • Able to lift/move light furniture; comfortable either working evenings/weekends directly or coordinating part-time staff to cover them.

Work Environment

  • This role is based in Knoxville, TN. The ideal candidate should be within a comfortable driving distance of Knollwood, in order to tend to onsite activities.
  • We expect this role to demand 15-30 hours per week, with some weeks more and other weeks less, depending on the event calendar. Regular onsite presence is expected, but we also hope to see capable remote management take place through the establishment of systems and standing up a part-time helper team.
